The Footprint of the Steel Industry

Climate change presents a significant challenge for the global steel industry, as the sector is a significant contributor to CO2 emissions, accounting for 8% of global annual production. However, the demand for steel continues to grow, as it is a crucial component of modern infrastructure. Each year, steel mills around the world produce an average of 240 kilograms of steel per person to meet global demand. As the global steel industry, we have a responsibility for our pale blue dot. In line with the global climate goals, we need to transform the outdated carbon-heavy production processes and move towards a more sustainable future.

Steel for a sustainable future

Demora’s patented fume dedusting system and electric arc furnaces are landmark technologies for environmentally conscious customers.

Every year millions of tons of steel is being recycled and repurposed throughout the world by the Electric Arc Furnaces manufactured in our workshops. Our electricity-powered EAFs offer a green alternative to the conventional coal-powered blast furnace by reducing carbon emissions by up to 90 percent when coupled with clean energy sources. Additionally, by recycling scrap steel, our EAFs eliminate the further need for mining iron ore. Learn more.

Hazardous fumes and industrial dust leaking from the furnaces pose a serious threat to the steelworker’s health and the air quality surrounding the steel mill. Demora’s Fume Dedusting System is a cost and energy-efficient way to collect such harmful gases and dust. With a simple mechanism, the FDS collects the dust, cools it down, filters it through, and turns it into a form that is easy to pack, transport, and dispose of. With its full automation capabilities, FDS is an easy-to-use system that will reduce the harmful particulates circulating in the steel mill. Learn more.
