Born in 1924, Vergili Group founder Mehmet Vergili’s journey with steel starts in his early youth. After moving to Karabük, Mehmet Vergili begins to work in the famous Karabük Iron and Steel Factories and quickly catches the eyes of his superiors for his wit and resourcefulness. Having received rolling mill training from the British engineers who established the factory, Mehmet Vergili becomes the first ever Turkish rolling foreman in the factory’s history.

Determined and eager for success, Mehmet Vergili later leaves his job to find his own firm. In his early days as a business owner, he engages in numerous commercial activities such as machining, and nail production. In 1965, he makes his biggest ever investment in the iron and steel industry and establishes the first ever rolling mill in Karabük. In 1981, he further expands on his investment and establishes a second rolling mill in the same city.

Following the footsteps of his father, Mehmet Vergili’s son Rafet Vergili continued expanding his father’s legacy and further investing in the Turkish steel industry. With new projects, Vergili Group transformed into a global company, with business connections from Guinea to Azerbaijan. In 2008, Rafet Vergili established Demora along with his business partner Kemal Seçer to manufacture and design industrial equipment for the steel industry and provide turnkey solutions to steel investors.

Demora, a group company of Vergili Group, is capable of engineering, designing, and manufacturing turn-key solutions and a variety of industrial machinery for steel mills, rolling mills, melt shops, and ferroalloy plants. Since its founding in 2008, Demora has quickly expanded its operations and become a worldwide supplier of the iron and steel industry, with numerous successful projects in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Demora carries out its manufacturing activities in its Karabük workshop located in the Black Sea region of Turkey, with a total area of 23.000 square meters and equipped with the most cutting-edge equipment and tools. The design and engineering office located in İstanbul continuously produces new innovations and technologies, thanks to its highly skilled staff.
