Electric Arc Furnace

An electric arc furnace is a piece of industrial equipment that is used for steelmaking and other metal refining processes. It uses high-voltage electric currents to create an electric arc, which generates temperatures of up to 3,000 degrees Celsius. This intense heat is used to melt scrap metal and other raw materials, which can then be shaped into new products. Electric arc furnaces are highly efficient and can produce large amounts of steel in a short amount of time. They are also more environmentally friendly than traditional furnaces, as they produce fewer emissions and use less energy. Using EAFs allows the steel to be made from 100% scrap metal feedstock. This dramatically reduces the energy required to make steel, in comparison with primary steelmaking which uses iron ore.

Another great benefit is flexibility. While blast furnaces cannot vary their production by much and can remain in operation for years at a time, EAFs can be rapidly started and stopped, allowing the steel mill to adjust their production rates in accordance with the demand.

Overall, an electric arc furnace is a powerful and efficient tool for industrial metalworking. As the Demora team, we built dozens of Electric Arc Furnaces for our customers both in Turkey and abroad. Contact us now to get us to help you build your next melt shop project.
